i have a fendersquier star style guitar.i want to replace pickup,
so my idea is double pickups for front and bridge and single pickup for middle. so it need to cut right.
i wanna know how much for repair ?
Depends on the rout of the guitar. Some Squiers are not routed for Humbuckers, some are. If we have to rout and install, and get you a new pickguard, look to spend about $200 plus the cost of the pickguard.
Hi, i have been interested in modifying my 09′ mex tele by putting in a third pickup which would be a strat hot noiseless from a americzn strat and i was wondering what the cost to cut the hole in it and route it in stratocaster parallel alignment. Also do you do pickguard mods? Thanks.
Also i would like to know what pickup installation prices are because i bought 2 samarium cobalt noiseless tele pickups to go with the othe pickup. I am on a budget and really look to spend under $300 if you could maked that possible that would be nice.
Sorry for the typos
Should be about $150 if we don’t need to rout the body. I think that one should have a universal rout. If it doesn’t for some reason, it is an extra $85. We would need to put in a 5 way switch as well, and that is about $14.50. Let me know if you have other questions!
I have an old Alvarez Acoustic guitar that I have had since my collage days. Its has a lot of sentamental value. It has some bumps and bruises. Do you do restoration?
Absolutely! Those old Alvarez guitars are extremely good guitars and yours should have a second chance at life!
okay, i’ve got the opportunity of scoring an epiphone les paul junior body (not sure what exact model) but it has no electronics. any idea how much it would cost to go to a shop nd have them put in the electronics for me?
Should have one P90 pickup one volume and one tone. Pickups will vary in cost from $65-130. Install should run from $85-115 and pots, cap and jack would be $18. Pretty straight up.
Hello, not too long ago I saw a Fender Stratocaster with a vine of life fretboard. I thought this was really cool and would like to also have a Vine of life on my 1998 Stratocaster. What would it cost to do something like this. I know that there places to buy a fender shaped neck with a vine of life inlay but it’s not Fender. I would want to keep my Strat all fender.
Thanks,
Steve Brewer
That kind of thing is pretty expensive to have done by a qualified American Technician. Most of the stuff you see on ebay like this is made in China. To have us pull the frets, create inlay and then refret the guitar would run you about $750. It is a tremendous amount of work.
Don’t really know, we would have to see the guitar to determine that.
several years ago, my young son overtightened the strings on a new Alvarez 6 string with a cypress top to the point at which the top pulled apart…the top is splintered and ruined. Can I get a new top made and installed….how much would this cost?
Generally speaking, replacing a top on a guitar is pretty cost prohibitive. Unless it is a very valuable piece or unless it has a huge amount of personal significance, it usually doesn’t make sense. The guitar must usually be disassemble to a certain degree and then have the top made and replaced, then the guitar’s sides and top need to be refinished and the guitar reassembled. I would look to spend about $2400 with parts and labor on a job like that.
Hello! Im interested in gettin a tremolo or whammy bar installed on to my gibson sg standard. Id like to know if you guys could get it done for me. If so, whats the price?
Depends on what kind of work you will be doing with the tremolo. If you just want to do accent work (just a little ah ah ah on the decay) I think the Bigsby would be the best bet. It is a pretty simple retro fit and runs about $100 to install with a set up and is about $150 for the tremolo. If you want to go dive bombing, you may have to install a Kahler tremolo. those are a good bit more expensive to install 9around $250-275) and the unit is a lot more as well. Look to spend about $300 on the actual tremolo unit.
Hi, I was wondering what the turn around time is to have abalone dot inlays replace the stock clay inlays installed on a strat with a rosewood frettboard. Also, i was wondering is the $125(plus materials) is still an accurate price. Thanks in advance.
Matt,
The price quote should be right, and turn around on a project like that may be about 3 weeks.
Hello Third Coast I have a Fender Telecaster Made in Mexico I would like to change the pickguard from white to black how much would this installation cost i did not take apart the guitar yet or remove the neck pickup.
It’s a pretty simple install. Look to spend about $15.
Hi Chris! How long would it take to install a bone nut in a Fender Stratocaster?
Gerald, good to hear from you! It usually takes about 2 to 3 days.
Hi, I have a Takamine EG544SC acoustic-electric that I would like set up. I noticed the guitar has a plastic saddle. I’m wondering if you can replace it with a bone saddle? About how much would this cost?
Stan,
Replacing the saddle on that guitar would be a little more difficult than normal as the saddle is integrated with the pickup. In order to do it properly, you would have to replace the pickup as well as the saddle. A set up on a guitar like that usually runs $55-65 and a good pickup would cost about $80 plus about $25 to retrofit it into the Takamine preamp. A bone saddle install with a set up runs about $35 plus the bone blank ($6).
About how much would it cost for me to get tortoise shell pick guard for my gibson les paul jr. doublecut knock off? And would it make a difference since it’s not actually a gibson?
Well, it may not fit perfectly if we order it from WD or somewhere like that, but it should be close enough for rock and roll. Probably would be about $45. Otherwise, we would have to make you one from scratch and by hand and that runs at least $125 plus materials (usually about $30).
I’ve always wondered, would it be possible to add binding to a guitar neck that does not have it already? If so, how much does that run??
Kevin,
You can add binding to a guitar fretboard, but it is a pretty expensive thing to do as an upgrade. To do it properly, the fretboard must be removed from the guitar, the frets pulled out, and the board be reshaped for the binding. Then the binding is applied and shaped, the board is put back onto the guitar and the neck is either refinished or touched up. The neck is then fretted and set up. This customization usually runs around $750 plus materials (usually about $25). It is a time consuming repair and can take a while to turn around as well.
I have on-hand a new bone nut and saddle for my Martin acoustic, as well as new Grover tuners. What would be the cost to install all of this?
Joe,
It depends on how finished your existing bone blanks are. If they are ready to drop in, look to spend about $80 to fit those and set the guitar up. If they are just rough and we need to cut and shape them, look to spend about $145. The tuners vary in cost as well depending on if they need to be installed or if they are drop in. If they drop in, look to spend about $5. If they need to be “installed” look to spend about $25. Hope that helped.
If I play it a tortoise shell uncut pickguard material, would you guys be able to cut it into the right shape to fit my guitar? Or would it just be cheaper for you guys to order me one and just to bring my guitar in?
Bring in*
Depends on the guitar. If there is an available one from the factory, it is usually cheaper to order one. If it is an unusual shape or unavailable, we would have to make you a new one.
I have a Mariachi Vihuela, 5 strings (A-D-G-B-E)that needs metal fretes and dots. I have ties on the frets now which is more traditional and is how it came. How much would it cost to get the metal frets put in it and is it something you can do?
Yes we can do that. To slot and fret a vihuela and put dots in the board should cost you about $550-600 plus materials and if you want the fretboard refinished (I am assuming it has finish on it, most do), look to spend another $150.
